Sam Sabawi

Sam Sabawi is an award-winning director and alumnus of the number one ranked USC School of Cinematic Arts. During his time at USC, he was awarded with six awards over two consecutive years by the Marshall School of Business and the School of Cinematic Arts’ joint “Southern California Business Film” Program — including Best Director and Best Picture. In addition to his education at USC, Sabawitrained under Judith Weston, whose directing students include the likes of Alejandro Iñárritu and Ava DuVernay.

In the following years, Brian Graden Media (run by former president of MTV Networks and Executive Producer of South Park) recruited Sabawi to direct under Graden's newly launched production company, where Sabawi directed dozens of sizzles and pilot presentations that sold to various networks including USA, A&E, Vh1, WeTV, CMT and Esquire — including the pilot presentation for the series "Walk of Shame Shuttle," which resulted in a ’straight to series’ 13-episode order on VH1 after a bidding war between four networks. In the digital realm, Sam most recently directed short form content for Funny Or Die in a collaboration with the viral comedians: The Liberal Rednecks.

As a television and streaming producer, Sabawi served as the U.S. Producer of Season 2 of the scripted Australian series, “No Activity”, starring Rose Byrne, which success later resulted in an adaption into the American series on CBS All-Access starring Will Ferrell.  He also served as U.S. Producer of the scripted ABC Australia series, “Squinters,” which was praised by the Sydney Morning Herald as“unequivocally one of the funniest comedies of the year.”  Additionally, Sam helmed as showrunner of the MTV documentary special "Moment of Clarity," which chronicled the EDM sensation Zedd along his rise to global fame and eventual Grammy win. AXS called it “A must-see for any fan of the artist and electronic music”.

Sabawi has directed and edited commercial and branded content for Intel, The UPS Store, Nivea For Men, Allstate and many others. In 2017, his Allstate spot was praised in Adweek. Sabawi has also created music-related content in collaboration with EDM artists such as Deadmau5, Alesso, Dada Life, Hardwell, Dirty South, Zedd, and Skrillex to name a few.

Sabawi continues to direct and produce scripted television and is set to make his feature directorial debut in 2018.
